Why Our Domes?

Timber Frame
Our dome frames are made from the highest quality treated timber to ensure strength, longevity and stunning looks. Each triangle is cut using precise technology to ensure each joint is perfect to maximise the strength of the geodesic form.
We also build each individual triangle so should one need replacing later in life they can simply be unscrewed and replaced making maintenance very easy.

Windows
We use the highest quality polycarbonate glass on all our domes. The polycarbonate is 200x stronger than glass so safety is our highest concern. It is also has a UV coating on the polycarbonate to protect it from harmful UV rays.
All our domes come with atleast 2 opening windows to allow better air circulation on those warmer days. Although the geodesic shape does make them 30% more efficient at heating.

Cladding
We use high grade cladding on all our domes.
The Western Red Cedar has natural preservatives within the wood that ensures a very long lifespan.
The Redwood cladding is also thermo treated, giving it a lifespan of 30+ years.
We also use multiple layers of waterproofing to ensure your domes stay nice and dry on the inside and well insulated.

Geodesic Shape
Why do we use the geodesic frame? Well simply put it is one of the strongest forms found in nature and has incredible strength, able to withstand heavy loads and earthquakes. It is also very good for windy locations as its natural shape makes it very wind resistant and has been reported to withstand hurricane winds.
Plus its such an amazing shape, with good energy.
All our Pods are constructed the same way unless otherwise stated. We have the outer layer cladding, an air gap, then a layer of Tyvek over a shell of OSB. This is all placed on the outside of the geodesic framework. On the inside of the frame we fit 50mm insulation and the this is covered with a thin layer of Birch/Larch plywood. This way the frame is still visible from the inside, why would we hide all that beautiful wooden frame after all the work that goes into it.

Delivery and Installation.
We deliver and install all our domes within the UK. Our expert team of dome builders will personally assemble your dome on site. This can vary from a couple of days to a couple of weeks depending on location and size. Contact us to make sure of time frame and cost for your location.
Foundations
Do you need foundations?
We build all our pods on a solid platform so providing the ground is solid enough then there is no need to poor masses of concrete. The platforms are raised on many legs and only require a solid slab to sit them on so they are not in direct contact with the ground, or ground anchors for a more solid fixing. This also means that the building is not classed a permanent structure as a crane could lift the whole building or be dismantled if needed.
Planning Permission.
This is always a tricky one, all depends on use, where abouts you want your dome etc. We advise that you check with your local authority as they will be able to point you in the right direction or a consultancy firm that will help guide you.
